S O Y O L E E is an artist whose interest is to preserve and look through orderly picture clues in certain biological samples.
She observes and applies procedures for transforming nature into a variety of visual cultures by means of hands-on participation in contemporary scientific research. Through this practice, she attempts to take part in the fusion and tension among quantitative, qualitative and imaginative modes of speculation. She is currently a resident artist at the Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, making extreme close-up photographs by shooting electrons through thinly sliced insects.
